Danny Goff is a Sr. Security Advisor at Optiv. For the last 20 years Danny has worked with multiple organizations ranging from public sector to start-ups to Global 50. With a background in Data, Identity and Encryption he focuses on helping companies embrace the complex nature of Zero Trust and the necessary ties to Identity to achieve success.
Modern zero trust security approaches were already part of the strategy for enterprises pre-pandemic. The hurried and unexpected forced shift to organization wide remote work accelerated the need to rethink traditional approaches to security. As we begin to consider the long road to a post-pandemic norm finding, the balance between strong security and user experience will be a significant challenge. We need to securely enable access for various users – employees, partners, contractors, etc. – regardless of their location, device or network. Those organizations that successfully balance agility and security will be poised to emerge on top.
The adoption of mobile and cloud means that we can no longer have a network perimeter-centric view of security. Instead, The Zero Trust Security approach ensures the right people have the right level of access, to the right resources, in the right context, and that access is assessed continuously — all without adding friction for the user. That Zero Trust nirvana doesn’t happen overnight.
