Beyond Digital Transformation: Leading in the Age of Disruption

- IDC IT Executive Programs
- Research Insights, Advisory Support, Metrics and Leadership Development

During the COVID-19 pandemic, one of the most important lessons that IT leaders and their organizations learned was the urgent imperative to digitally transform. However, digital transformation is not a destination; rather, it’s a process that continues today. Complicating that process are storms of disruption such as high inflation, a bear stock market, and a possible recession, and their follow-on impacts. In this session IDC Adjunct Research Advisor Niel Nickolaisen describes the operating environment for organizations and their IT leaders; reviews the most recent IDC data on the economy and the IT response; and gives targeted, pragmatic guidance on how IT leaders can drive their organization’s digital transformation campaign forward — to thrive in 2023 and beyond.

Speaker: Niel Nickolaisen | Adjunct Research Advisor

Niel Nickolaisen is an adjunct research advisor for IDC’s IT Executive Programs (IEP). He is considered a thought leader in the use of Agile principles to improve IT delivery. And he has a passion for helping others deliver on what he considers to be the three roles of IT leadership: enabling strategy, achieving operational excellence, and creating a culture of trust and ownership.

Niel has held technology executive and operations executive positions, typically in turnaround roles. At O.C. Tanner, he overhauled and modernized a problematic legacy technology and product stack while revitalizing the IT team. At Western Governors University (WGU), he invented advanced analytics technologies that increased student retention by over 10%; these technologies identified at-risk students so that the entire university staff could focus on supporting these students.
