The Changing Oil & Gas Enterprise

The oil and gas industry is in a period of correction where industry leadership is evaluating the overall business model and underlying processes. The industry is recognizing the necessity of having an agile enterprise and utilizing technology to be resilient. Software, infrastructure, IT/OT integration and utilization of services are just a few of the elements of change in the modern oil and gas enterprise that are being addressed. This session addresses the macro economic impact on decision making for technology leaders in oil and gas.

Speaker: Andrew Meyers, Research Director, Oil & Gas IDC
Andrew Meyers is Research Director of Oil & Gas for IDC Energy Insights. Based in Houston, TX, Mr. Meyers leads IDC's Worldwide Oil & Gas program, collaborating with global teams. Mr. Meyers is responsible for developing and leading IDC's worldwide research on Upstream, Midstream, and Downstream Oil & Gas operations.  His core research coverage includes the ongoing and accelerating digital transformation in the Oil & Gas industry.  Based on his background covering the energy space, his research also includes a particular emphasis on how digital transformation is changing energy markets and business models in the sector.

Prior to joining IDC, Mr. Meyers was Associate Director of Westwood Global Energy Group, a private equity sponsored oil & gas research and advisory firm. He led the Americas Consulting practice providing strategy and market intelligence to corporate, financial and governmental clients. Prior to Westwood, he was a Project Manager for boutique consultancy Decision Strategies. Before joining Decision Strategies, Mr. Meyers began his career as an Analyst for Anadarko Petroleum, a large Oil & Gas exploration and production company.

Combining his experience as an analyst and as a practitioner in the Oil & Gas industry, Mr. Meyers will be well positioned prioritize research topics and communicate the need for digital transformation in Oil & Gas.  Mr. Meyers has an M.B.A. from Duke University Fuqua School of Business and a B.B.A. in Finance from Texas Tech University. He is frequent speaker, presenter and moderator at industry conferences as well as providing analysis for multiple media outlets including Reuters, Oil & Gas Financial Journal, Journal of Petroleum Technology, Drilling Contractor Magazine and many others.
